What’s new for 2027

One big addition — and everything good left alone.

The 2027 Kicks carries over the 2025 redesign untouched: same 2.0-liter engine, same body, same best-in-class cargo space and ground clearance. What’s new is a rugged-look grade with real all-terrain drive modes, built on the SV with all-wheel drive standard.

Every trim shares the same 141-hp 2.0-liter engine, the same 12.3″ touchscreen, and the same 8.4 inches of ground clearance. The real differences are drivetrain, screens, cameras, and trim. Here’s how all four grades line up.

New for 2027 · trail-look styling, standard AWD

The rugged-look Kicks, built on the grade most people buy.

Rock Creek starts from the SV, makes Intelligent All-Wheel Drive standard, and adds an exclusive grille, gloss-black trim and mirrors, amber running lights, 17″ black alloys, and a cross-bar roof rack rated to 165 pounds — enough for a rooftop box or a couple of bikes. Inside you get TailorFit synthetic leather, heated front seats and mirrors, ambient lighting, and an HD Around View Monitor. An exclusive Off-Road drive mode and Hill Descent Control round it out.

Straight talk on what it isn’t: ground clearance stays at 8.4 inches, the tires are the same all-seasons, and there’s no added underbody protection. This is a styling-and-drive-mode grade, not a lifted trail rig — it’s the right pick if you want the look and all-weather traction for Chicago winters and gravel campground roads.

Small footprint, surprisingly big on tech.

The Kicks punches well above its price inside — especially on the SR, where the screens, sound, and cameras feel a class above, and on the new Rock Creek, where the seats and ambient lighting come as standard equipment.

2027 Nissan Kicks S AWD in Canyon Bronze Metallic
Why Chicagoland drivers choose it

Sized for the city, ready for the lake-effect.

The Kicks is the right footprint for a tight Evanston side street or a North Shore garage, but with available Intelligent AWD it doesn’t flinch at a February morning on the Edens or the Kennedy. All-wheel-drive models add a dedicated Snow drive mode that softens the throttle for slick surfaces, and every Kicks rides on a best-in-class 8.4 inches of ground clearance — enough for slush ruts and the city’s rougher streets. It’s a subcompact built for the way people actually drive around Chicago, and priced to make sense.

  • Available Intelligent AWD with Snow mode for unplowed I-94 and I-90 commutes — standard on the new Rock Creek
  • Best-in-class 8.4″ of ground clearance for slush, ruts, and the city’s rougher streets
  • Cold Weather Package on SV and SR ($300) — heated front seats, heated mirrors, rear floor heater ducts; standard on Rock Creek
  • Around View Monitor (SR and Rock Creek) to make tight Skokie lots and downtown garages painless
  • Compact footprint that still seats five with up to 60 cu ft for a Costco run or a weekend up north
  • Up to 35 MPG highway to stretch the tank on longer trips out of the city
  • Winter tires, wiper blades and battery checks handled in-house by our Skokie service department before the first freeze

Frequently asked questions

Questions Chicago shoppers actually ask before buying.

If your question isn’t covered here, call us at (847) 965-3460 — our team will give you a straight answer.

How much does the 2027 Nissan Kicks cost?

Starting MSRP runs from $22,790 for the S FWD to $29,395 for the SR AWD, before the $1,545 destination charge. The SV starts at $24,490, the SR at $27,595, and the new Rock Creek at $28,840. All-wheel drive adds $1,500 on the S, $2,000 on the SV, and $1,800 on the SR; it’s standard on Rock Creek. Check our current offers and specials for what’s running this month, or call us for pricing on the trim you want.

What’s new on the 2027 Kicks compared to the 2026?

One thing, and it’s a real one: the new Rock Creek grade. Everything else carries over — same 2.0-liter engine, same body and dimensions, same 12.3″ standard touchscreen, same Safety Shield 360, same best-in-class cargo space and 8.4″ ground clearance. Prices moved by about $60 at the base. If you liked a 2026 Kicks, the 2027 is the same car with one more grade to choose from.

What is the Nissan Kicks Rock Creek?

It’s a new-for-2027 grade built on the SV with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive standard, priced at $28,840. It adds an exclusive upper grille, gloss-black exterior trim, mirrors and lower fascias, amber daytime running lights, 17″ black alloy wheels, and a cross-bar roof rack rated to 165 pounds. Inside: TailorFit synthetic leather seating and steering wheel, heated front seats and mirrors, ambient lighting, Rock Creek floor mats, and an HD Around View Monitor with parking sensors. It also gets an exclusive Off-Road drive mode and Hill Descent Control.

Is the Kicks Rock Creek actually off-road capable?

Here’s the honest answer: it’s a styling and drive-mode grade, not a lifted trail vehicle. Ground clearance stays at 8.4 inches — the same as every other Kicks — the tires are the same all-seasons, and there’s no added underbody protection. What you do get is standard all-wheel drive, an Off-Road drive mode, Hill Descent Control, and a roof rack that carries real weight. For Chicago winters, gravel campground roads, and a bike rack on the roof, it’s plenty. For rock crawling, it isn’t the vehicle — come talk to us about the Nissan Frontier instead.

What engine does the Kicks have, and is it turbocharged?

The Kicks uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, paired with an Xtronic CVT. It’s naturally aspirated, not turbocharged — tuned for smooth, efficient around-town driving and up to 35 MPG highway.

Does the 2027 Kicks come with all-wheel drive?

Yes. Intelligent AWD is available on the S, SV, and SR, and comes standard on the new Rock Creek. All-wheel-drive models add a Snow drive mode, which makes a real difference on unplowed Chicago streets in winter.

How much cargo space does the Kicks have?

A front-wheel-drive Kicks offers up to 30 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 60 cubic feet with the rear seats folded — best-in-class for a subcompact. All-wheel-drive models, including Rock Creek, give up 23.9 / 50.1 cubic feet to make room for the rear drive components. Rock Creek’s cross-bar roof rack adds another 165 pounds of carrying capacity up top.

Do you have the 2027 Kicks in stock near Evanston and Chicago?

We stock a range of Kicks trims, colors, and drivetrains at our Skokie showroom, minutes from Evanston, Niles, and Chicago’s North Side. If we don’t have your exact configuration — including a Rock Creek in the color you want — we can usually locate it within 48 hours.

Can I finance a Kicks with less-than-perfect credit?

Yes. Our in-house financing team works with a network of lenders, including options for bad or no credit. With the Kicks being one of the most affordable new vehicles we carry, it’s often a great fit — and you can get pre-approved online with no impact to your credit score before you ever visit.

What warranty comes with a new Kicks?

Every new Kicks includes a 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Ask us about adding our Premium Plan for lifetime synthetic oil changes and tire rotations, carried out by factory-trained techs in our Skokie service department.

Is the Nissan Kicks a good car?

For value, it’s one of the strongest picks in its class. The Kicks pairs an affordable price, up to 35 MPG, standard Safety Shield 360, best-in-class cargo space and ground clearance, and a standard 12.3″ display on every trim. It’s been recognized as a budget and dependability standout, and for most Chicago-area drivers it’s an easy, low-cost crossover to live with.

How long does a Nissan Kicks last?

With regular maintenance, a Kicks can commonly reach 200,000 miles or more — roughly 13 to 17 years of typical driving. Staying on top of oil changes and routine service is the biggest factor, which is where our Premium Plan helps.

Does the 2027 Nissan Kicks have a third row?

No — the Kicks is a five-passenger subcompact crossover and doesn’t offer a third row. If you want more room but still five seats, step up to the Nissan Rogue; for true three-row seating for seven or eight, look at the Pathfinder or Armada — we carry all three.

Is there a hybrid or electric Kicks?

Not in the U.S. — the 2027 Kicks is gas-only, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that still returns up to 35 MPG highway. If you want an electrified Nissan, ask us about the all-electric Nissan LEAF or the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid.
