The 2019 Nissan Altima

Almost every major nameplate has tried to put its stamp on the midsize sedan market over the years, but few have had the same level of success as Nissan. The Altima has been the Japanese automaker’s best-selling sedan for 25 years. It might look like things couldn’t get much better — but the 2019 Nissan Altima proves that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The sixth-generation Altima made its North American debut at the 2018 New York International Auto Show last month. Here’s what we found out about it.

The 2019 Nissan Altima

Sophisticated Styling

Think luxury without the price tag. The 2019 Nissan Altima has been altered for a statelier look than its predecessors. A low-slung hood line and signature V-motion grille contribute to this new era of distinguished design for this midsize sedan. So do floating roof and boomerang lights.

And it’s just as enticing on the inside. With everything you need and nothing you don’t in the cabin, the all-new Altima boasts a convenience that rivals crossovers.

Optimized Performance

The 2019 Altima is a product of Nissan’s never-ending desire to improve. That’s why the engineers behind the sixth-generation have introduced two new engines: an updated 2.5L DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine and the company’s first-ever VC-Turbo engine. Both provide enhanced efficiency and power.

But the VC-Turbo engine isn’t the only first for this midsize car. The Altima will also feature the first application of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive in a Nissan sedan.

Assistive Technology

The new Altima looks to build upon Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a platform that’s redefining how we experience our daily commute. With available ProPILOT Assist, the 2019 Altima reduces required driver input during single-lane highway driving. Thanks to available Rear Automatic Braking, the Altima can detect stationary objects in its path and even apply brakes to avert a collision.

With all that peace of mind, you’ll have more time to enjoy your drive. Good thing there’s a standard 8” center color display with multi-touch control and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration.
