Summary of the Model

The Altima is a 4-door, 5 passenger mid-size sedan produced by Nissan since 1992. It has gone through many design changes in its nearly 25 year history, most recently with the introduction of the 5th generation model in 2013, which was also the last year for the coupe. The current Altima is powered by an upgradable 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, matched with an automatic CVT transmission. The Altima gets impressive gas mileage, with an EPA estimated 27 MPG city and 38 MPG highway.

It is available in an array of trims, from the base model that still features remote entry and a push button start to top of the line trims with leather heated seats and front and rear parking sensors. The majority of Altimas on the road are manufactured right here in the United States, at assembly plants in Smyrna, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Safety has always been a prime concern for Nissan, and the Altima has earned NHTSA’s 5-Star Highest Front-Impact Crash Safety Rating, as well as being an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick Plus."
